Friday evening we headed out on an adventure to a beautiful location, on the most perfect of evenings. The weather was amazing and the light was so incredible and rich. We slowly worked our way up a giant hill where Shaun asked Stephanie to marry him. The setting could not have been more perfect! We toasted the newly engaged couple with a little champagne. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible moment with us.
A letter from Shaun:
OK, so.... where to begin. I have had this idea in my head for several months as to how I was to propose to Steph. Being a photographer, obviously photography means a lot to me. I really wanted to have this moment captured. But not just captured by a friend with a quick little snapshot. I wanted something beautiful and amazing. Something only Red Leaf could do. I guess Amy knew it from the very first non-descriptive email what I had planned. We booked a session, and I laid out my plans with Richard and Amy. I told Steph that I just wanted to have some photos done by them because I love their work, and we needed a small little trip by ourselves. I was really nervous. And it showed. Throughout the session, I just kept thinking about the ring in my pocket, and tried to relax for the photos, confident that they would be amazing. Near the end of the session, we were led to the top of the hill overlooking the most beautiful valley with a gorgeous view of the prairies. I had waited on the advice of Richard and Amy, because this is where it had to happen. And they were right. I knew it was perfect as soon as I saw it. I barely even gave them a chance to set up before I proposed. We were then surprised by a bottle of champagne and a toast to us. It was amazing to have such an amazing couple that I look up to professionally and as a couple be there with us. Afterwards, Steph was uncharacteristically quiet, because there was so much going through her mind. Now that we have seen these exceptional images, I am so overjoyed to have these for the rest of our lives together. A perfect memory of what is sure to be one of the best moments of my life. We have spent so much time going through them together, and apart, with friends and with family. Thank you Richard and Amy, for being a part of this day, for capturing the moments and instances, and for depicting the sweet and calm side of our relationship. And thank you to Stephanie, for being so much to me, and allowing us to be the multifaceted couple we are. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you, and to sharing these images with our kids. We are absolutely blessed to have this keepsake, and to have this incredible life that we do.
